SANDFORD WIN FOR RAVENSHOE SHOOTERS

On 22 March 2014 Murray & Liz Wilson took part in the Sandford (just south of Hobart) Open Prize Meeting in Tasmania. It was a bitterly cold, blustery, rainy morning with 35 shooters competing 3 x 7 shot matches over 300, 500 and 600 yards. Murray took out the 300 y range from the other nine FS-B competitors, while Liz came 1st over 500 y. Murray ended up Aggregatate FS-B winner and Liz came 2nd. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day with friendly camaraderie and good food the order of the day.

Ravenshoe Shooters Shoot Tasmanian Queens 2014

Following their shoot in the winning North Queensland Team’s shoot, Murray & Liz Wilson shot the lead-up to the Tasmanian Queens (The Davis Series) over 6th and 7th March 2014. Murray took out 1st place at 300 yards with 60.04 over Liz with 59.07. Liz also came 3rdon Day 2 at 700 yards. The whole two days covered 300, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 yards. Liz Wilson took out 3rd aggregate badge with Murray coming 8th.

The Queens shoot followed over 8th, 9th and 10th March. Campbell Town Range in Tasmania is renowned for very windy conditions, but the locals said that conditions were not so bad this year. If 13 minutes of wind is benign we’d hate to think what bad conditions were like! Day 1 comprised double 500 and double 600 yards. Day 2 was over double 700 and double 800 yards. A 7.30am start on Day 3 was over 900 and 1000 yards. Murray took out 2nd Daily Aggregate in the Second Stage. There were no range medals awarded. Murray also took out 3rd Queens Aggregate and 3rd overall Grand Aggregate (for the Davis Series and the Queens). Certainly a good result for our Highlanders.

F Class Teams Competition, Tasmania 3 – 5 March 2014

The Australian F Class Teams Competition, comprising 9 teams Australia wide, took place in Campbell Town, Tasmania, over three days in March 2014 prior to the Tasmanian Queens Shoot.
It was tightly contested with Victoria leading after Day 1 over North Queensland by 9.02. On Day 2 the 10 shot match at 1000 yards completed the first match of the competition. After some superb shooting by the North Queensland Team, this left Victoria ahead of North Queensland by 1.02 to win the first match. The second shoot at this range was a 15 shot match at 1000 yards and the combination of the two 1000 yard ranges comprised the second match. This was won by North Queensland. The grand aggregate of the two days was won by North Queensland (1433.58 over Victoria’s 1429.51), which gave North Queensland the National F Class Standard Teams Championship, Tasmania 2014.
The North Queensland Team comprised:
Captain: John Lorimer
Coach: Jim Blomfield
Shooters: Shane Green, Murray Wilson,Charles Lazarus, Elizabeth Wilson and Stephen Lazarus
